All players and parents are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct which can be referenced in your Parent's Guide To The Sport of Lacrosse, 9th Edition.
Lamorinda Lightning Lacrosse Club does not tolerate poor sportsmanship or violations of the Code of Conduct.
In the event of a behavior issue the following protocol will be followed.

2. If the conduct continues after the parent(s) have been notified, the club manager will be notified. Accordingly, the LLC board has full and final discretion to take whatever action it finds necessary which includes the permanent removal of any player from a team roster.
LLC expects that parents conduct themselves as role models to our players and will not tolerate violations in the Code of Conduct. Accordingly, the club manager and the LLC board has full and final discretion to take whatever action the manager finds is necessary which includes the permanent removal of any parent from attending games.

Game Etiquette

It is customary for opposing lacrosse teams to line up on the same side of the field (same side as the scorekeepers).
Parents sit on the opposite side of the field. New families receive a copy of the US Lacrosse Parent Handbook. Please familiarize yourselves with all aspects of the game and behavioral expectations. Keep this handbook in a safe place for future reference.

COMMUNICATION:
The website
(www.lamorindalacrosse.com) is our primary mode of communication to the club as a whole, while email is also used on a club level and is the primary communication tool at the team level.

The hotline is the primary update option for rain/game cancellations and any last minute changes. During the season each team will have its own extension to communicate specific team information.

Game/practice schedules and field directions: Directions on how to obtain your game schedule will be posted on this website with a link for each division and team as they become available. It is advised that you double check weekly and periodically print an updated schedule as game times and location may change after the original schedule is printed.

COACHES:
The number of teams is directly related to the number of coaches. Many of our coaches are unpaid volunteers and a few are paid. It’s important that each team have several assistant coaches per team.

We need additional head coaches and assistant coaches for both the boys and girls programs. If you have lacrosse experience (or know someone with lacrosse experience) consider contacting Our Club Administrator for details. If you have a young child, no lacrosse experience and are willing to coach contact us. Assistant coaches are needed to help especially during practices, no lacrosse experience is required, only enthusiasm and a positive coaching attitude. Coaching clinics will be held at dates to be announced. Please join our growing and enthusiastic coaching staff.

DIVISIONS / DESCRIPTION OF TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

The staff for each division (girls, pups and juniors) will attend evaluations, evaluate players and create the final team rosters based on skill ability. A great deal of time and effort go into team placement. The coaches want to create competitive teams and assign players to the appropriate skill level to insure player safety and growth within the sport. Team revision is at the option of the coaching staff only. Players will be notified of team placement by their coach via phone or email in early January

BOYS:

The Boys league will consist of 6 divisions representing individual school grades (except for 3rd-4th grade). Each division from 3rd to 8th grades will have an A league and a B league and possibly a C league.

Division/League
8th Grade A and B* Juniors
7th Grade A and B* Juniors
6th Grade A and B* Pups
5th Grade A and B* Pups
3/4th Grade A and B* PeeWee
2 Grade: combined developmental league “Bobble Heads”
*Some teams may be made up of 2 grade levels depending on our sign-ups.

Peewees(Bobbleheads): Grades 2
An “in house” developmental league, which may have one practice per week and a scrimmage on Sunday.  Many clubs are expanding their programs to include the 2nd grade level however we won’t know which clubs are able to sponsor a team until the beginning of March. Once this information becomes available we will schedule games when appropriate. Travel to San Ramon or Marin could be expected at the end of the season.
Tentatively kids will be divided into squads for scrimmages. We can only accept as many kids as we have coaches for, so consider becoming involved as a coach even if you don’t have lacrosse experience. We’ll provide plenty of support and instruction and pair you with an experienced coach. The club’s goal at this level is to have FUN and to begin to learn some basic skills.
Fall Ball is available for this grade level.

Peewees: Grade 3 & 4
This is an instructional division.  There will be one practice per week and generally one or two games per weekend, which might involve a bit of travel.
At the present time, we are looking for an additional coach/assistant coach for this level. This is a great age to learn the sport of Lacrosse and become a coach. Fall Ball is offered to boys at this age.

Pups: Grade 5-6

This is an instructional division, which practices twice weekly and plays one (possibly two) games per week. Games are generally held on Saturday or Sunday but occasionally during the week.
Fall League is encouraged for all players but not mandatory.

Juniors: Grades 7- 8

The junior division is the largest division within the club and its goals depend upon the level of play.  Practices are held two-three times per week depending on field and coaching availability. Games are generally held on Saturday and Sunday. Practice location and times may change throughout the season to accommodate field restrictions, daylight savings time and coaching availability.

There will be three levels of play within this division:
”A” - Placement of players at “A” level requires a commitment by the player and his parent(s) that the player will attend all practices each week, attend all games, travel to required game locations, and be prepared to play full contact lacrosse at the highest and most intense level permitted by the league.
”B” – This level requires attendance by the player at all practices and games, some travel, and requires a commitment to learning and improving the level of lacrosse played by each player. Placement on any team is completely at the junior coaches' discretion. Two player evaluations are tentatively scheduled for December and it is highly suggested that all players go to both tryouts so that each player is assigned to the appropriate team.
”C” – These players are generally new to the sport.

GIRLS:
The girls’ teams will be structured slightly different this season. These decisions are often based on the league (NCJLA) and are not made solely by our club
Girls - 7th and 8th grade will have an A1 and an A2 team
Girls - 5th and 6th grade will be "B" teams
Girls - 3rd and 4th grade will be a developmental league

The girl’s 7th and 8th grade
A1 team is a highly competitive team. The highest level of skill and commitment by the player and parents is required to be on this team. Players and parents must be aware that the girls are required to make their practices which usually are 2 days per week and be in attendance at the games on the weekends and that games require travel. We are looking forward to a great 3rd season.
The rest of the girl’s teams are considered part of an instructional league, which will practice two times per week and play one (possibly two) games per week, generally on Saturday or Sunday.
Developmental:

An “in house” developmental league, which will have one practice per week and games on Saturday or Sunday. Many of the clubs are expanding their programs to include 3-4 graders, however we won’t know which clubs are able to sponsor a team until the beginning of March. Once this information becomes available we will schedule games when appropriate. Travel to San Ramon or Marin could be expected.
We can only accept as many kids as we have coaches for so consider becoming involved as a coach even if you don’t have lacrosse experience. We’ll provide plenty of support and instruction and pair you with an experienced coach. The club’s goal at this level is to have FUN and to begin to learn some basic skills.

SCHEDULING CHANGES/PLAYER FAMILY FLEXIBILITY:
Lacrosse is played during the rainy season and game/practice cancellations are expected. Our goal is to provide as many games as possible for our players. Due to circumstances beyond our control games may have to be rescheduled, sometimes with very little notice.
We coordinate games with at least 8 clubs, all run by volunteers. Preseason, we do our best to create a schedule that will have minimal changes. However, some changes are beyond our control. Parents need to be flexible. Please reconsider whether this is the right sport for your child if last minute changes and flexibility presents a problem.

TRANSPORTATION
Each family is responsible to insure their child is picked up after practices and games in a timely manner. If carpooling, please make sure you have clear communications with other participants and your schedules are defined.
